Evolution of My 21 Day Reset

My personal journey in developing my 21 Day Reset plan...

21 Day Reset - Bloating

My journey has been a long one to getting my 21 Day Reset plan to where it is now. Looking back to my younger years, I remember experiencing a lot of digestive discomfort and trapped wind. But it was only when I trained as a wellness coach and started learning about nutrition that I realised it was my diet that was the culprit. Stupid, I know, but I guess we endure things when we are unaware that life could be better.

After Children

The situation changed after my second child. Post-pregnancy, my stomach muscles didn't come back together – I had a diastasis recti. Every day ended with me feeling inflamed, bloated and resembling a pregnant woman. I still experienced digestive discomfort, but now, my weakened tummy muscles made it visible to everyone.

Like many women, my vanity kicked-in. I felt constantly self-conscious and that finally gave me the motivation to earnestly seek out a solution. I craved my flat tummy back.

How my 21 Day Plan Started

Initially, I attempted a full elimination diet, but I found it just wasn't practical for me. I couldn't stick with it long enough to identify problematic foods. I needed a more realistic approach, which lead to the birth of my first 21 Day Reset plan.

It has taken me over a decade of dietary experiments to pinpoint what causes such significant bloating in me and I’ve learnt so much along the way. [I try to share as much of my knowledge as possible with my clients.] And even now, the things that cause issues for me, change from year to year. So, it is a constant process of observation and investigation.

Where my 21 Day Plan is now

My 21 Day Reset plan is about people experimenting with their food. Although I give strict rules to follow to begin with, the longer-term aim is to find which of the rules work for you and which are needless. Every person’s body is different and reacts differently to specific foods. So, the first time someone does my 21 Day plan, they follow my rules exactly. Then they review how it went at the end. How did they feel when they ate this way? Were they missing anything? What could they change to make it easier for them to follow? Then the next time they join in, if they want, they can adjust slightly and see how that makes them feel (better or worse?). We now do five Resets a year, which gives everyone lots of opportunity to experiment. And everyone dips in and out and joins when their diary allows.

The plan loosely follows an elimination diet, cutting out common intolerant foods and emphasising gut-friendly, anti-inflammatory, and hormone-supportive foods. Over time, I've created a bank of recipes loved by me and my clients. The result? A constantly evolving database brimming with delicious options suitable for nearly all dietary requirements. I offer a variety of nutrient-balanced meal plans people can follow, or I allow clients to create their own plans from the recipe bank and recipes that they find elsewhere that follow the rules. All this is aided by helpful tools on my website that automatically create shopping lists for any plan created.

Incredible Results

The results I’ve had reported from the plan far outstretched what I was initially aiming for. They are truly incredible and life changing for many. Not just in reduced bloating and weight loss like I have in these pictures here, but in the remarkable difference in how people feel who do the plan: better skin, better sleep, better energy, fewer mood swings and just generally feeling really good in themselves.

My Pictures Above

So, a quick comment on my pictures here to finish off. I took these two pictures of me straight after Christmas last year and then at the end of January after my January Reset. Obviously, most of what you see there is bloating and inflammation, but I had also lost half a stone by the time I took the second picture. I always regret indulging in this way and feel incredibly uncomfortable. And as you can see my posture suffers too, with my back arch becoming more pronounced, weakened tummy muscles, and I find it much harder to stand tall.

The Reset has allowed me to find out which foods love my body the most, but Christmas is that time when the foods that don’t love me, do get offered around. In life in general, I find it incredibly hard to say no to any food, so Christmas is a constant battle for me. But I am posting this today partly to try and hold myself accountable and to remind myself what happens when I start eating the wrong foods.

Happy Christmas!

So here is to having lots of fun and laughter in December, but this year, only with the foods that love me back. Cin-cin!

If you'd like to join me for my 2024 January 21 Day Reset, we will be starting on or near 5th January. You can find out more and apply here.
