Are you allowing time in your diary for self-care?

Self Care

As we move into a second lockdown I wanted to do a post about self care. Some of us love lockdown, but some of us really struggle with it. That feeing of isolation and/or boredom can be overwhelming.

So what I wanted to ask you all to do is take extra care of yourselves over this next month. Remember that your mental health should be a priority. So whatever it is that makes you feel good, do it! What things give you small internal hugs? For me I love a bubble bath, with Epsom salts and Neals Yard bubble bath. Then a good rom com on the iPad at the end of the bath. What do you do at home that helps you relax and feel good?

Exercise should also be on that list. We all know that the endorphins released when you exercise make you feel good. But there is a much greater cost to not moving. Not moving will make your body lethargic and cranky. You mind then gets the opportunity to be low. So whatever you do, make sure you are doing some sort of movement every single day, no matter what.

And get outside. Make sure you are walking every day even if it’s raining. Nature is a great healer, so get out and find some.

Finally, just try and enjoy the peace that is lockdown. Change your mindset to see this as a positive move not a negative one. We all get to spend precious time with our children/households again and we can get jobs done at home that we didn’t manage last time. And hopefully this all means we can really enjoy ourselves properly in December.
